DETTLING BARREL PICK RELEASE!

THIS SATURDAY at 10AM at GLEN ELLYN!

Last month we had the extreme luck and pleasure to visit the Dettling Distillery in Alabama and be hosted by none other than Seth Dettling himself (and his wonderful wife Vicki!)! This is a true unicorn pick and we couldn't be more excited and proud to get to share it with you all this Saturday, exclusively at our Glen Ellyn store!

We were very impressed by their entire operation, and found it very interesting that they regularly put their whiskeys in trials (in house) against classic legendary bottles and the current favorite allocated bottlings to make sure they are meeting or exceeding the quality of these renowned bottlings. This remarkable barrel is a Kelvin Cooperage Char 3 Heavy Toast and the bourbon clocks in at just over 118 proof. It's a very unique 6 grain mashbill, utilizing non-GMO corn along with bakery quality rye and oat grains and 3 roasted malt blend. Without further ado - our tasting notes....

Nose ~ Chocolate, Fresh Leather, Burnt Orange, Earthy Minerality, Salted Caramel

Palate ~ Dark Roast Coffee, Rich Caramel, Toasty Powdered Restaurant Dessert Chocolate, Bright Mr Pibb, Pipe Tobacco, Vanilla Chocolate Swirl Soft Serve, hint of Balsamic Vinegar Salinity that is super enticing. Thick and oily mouthfeel.

Finish ~ The sweeter notes of Chocolate, Citrus and Dark Caramel prevail on the finish, evoking memories of a delicious Orange Tootsie Pop or Christmas Chocolate Orange. The finish lingers forever.

This is a very special whiskey that begs for contemplation to pick apart all of the depth and enjoy. The subtle salinity creates a slight tannic quality that makes you thirst for another sip. And another. And another.

LISLE WINE TO GO!

Celebrate Greek Easter with this week's WINE TO GO 3 Packs at Malloy's Finest Lisle! Learn to speak Greek with Wines that may be hard to pronounce, but are easy to enjoy with all your favorite Greek food.

Our RED 3 Pack starts with Alpha Estates "Hedgehog" Xinomavro. Named for the protected Hedgehogs that inhabit the vineyard, its aromas and flavors of small red fruits, leather and vanilla are unusually bright and approachable. A delight with Gyros or Souvlaki skewers. Next is Gaia (pronounced YaYa) "Notios" Red. This blend of Syrah and Agiorgitiko, bursts with concentrated cranberry, raspberry, plum and black pepper flavors. Nicely round and textured with bright acid and velvety tannins that dance with the rich flavors of Mousaka and Pastitsio. We finish with Skouras "Saint George" Agiorgitiko, named after the Saint who slayed the Dragon. This popular favorite has easy drinking flavors of plum and red fruits that are a classic partner with leg of lamb or lamb chops.  Greek 102 REDS for only $53 after 15% discount.

We have our upcoming Whiskeyfest NEXT WEEK on Saturday April 18th from 2-5pm at our Glen Ellyn store!
