Oh yes! The barrel picks are coming in hot and heavy in preparation for the holidays! This week we have our bourbon barrel from Bulleit that we picked on our April trip to Kentucky!

The bourbon we picked is their low rye mashbill using their yeast #3 (their set up is similar to Four Roses) which they say imparts strawberry notes to the whiskey. Our Bulleit single barrel specialist said this was showing a little more like their Yeast #5, which is Jackfruit (and one of the secret flavorings in JuicyFruit gum!). It is around 7 years old and was aged in a char #4 barrel and is a delectable bourbon to say the least! Check out these notes...

Nose ~ Apricot, Juicy Fruit gum, Herbal Tea

Palate ~ Very complex and dynamic! Definite strawberry, mango and dark fruit, but balanced with enticing hints of tobacco and clovy mint!

Finish ~ More clove and wisps of the fruit as it fades into a really satisfying medium long finish that begs for more sips!

Its easy drinking flavors of cherry pie, ripe berries and plums are our choice for Tacos and bigger than your head Burritos. We finish with the tasty and witty "Sofa King Bueno". Have fun saying the name out loud. This luscious blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Tannat and Mourvedre is filled with black and blue fruit flavors, savory black pepper and a touch of earth. Perfect with grilled skirt steak or dark mole. Muy Rico for only $47 after 15% discount.
